SBN-1022 ENCLOSURE I Seabrook Station Voltage Regulation Study (Additional Information on Level Indicator Converters)

o The Seabrook Voltage Regulation Study indicates, under Section V.B.2.3, that under the worst condition (i.e., maximum plant load and minimum grid voltage),

the voltage at the 120 volt distribution panel buses may drop momentarily to 94.1 volta due to motor starting.

The effect of this momentary voltage dip to the operation of the level indicator converters (GEMS RE-36562) has been analyzed and discussed with the manufacturer of the equipment.

As indicated in the enclosed correspondence between the manufacturer of subject equipment and United Engineers and Constructors, a voltage dip as low as 90 volta could cause approximately two percent error in the output of the converter.

These level indicators converters are used for post-accident monitoring of containment water level after an accident (LOCA). There is no actuation function associate with these level indicators.

Based on the above, we see no safety significance to this voltage variation considering the function of these devices, the momentary duration of the voltage dip, and the effect that this dip could have on the performance of the subject devices.
