REVISION TO SEMIANNUAL RADIOACTIVE EFFLUENT' RELEASE REPORT - JULY T* 10 UGH DECEMBER 1984 During the routine NRC safety inspection conducted by Mr L J Hueter of the NRC on May 20-23, 1985 IEIR 85-009 Consumers Power Company acknowledged an error in Table 3b of the semiannual effluent report for the last half of 1984, submitted February 28, 1985. The report identified an abnormal release from-an underground pipe leak from the demineralized water supply to the condensate storage tank on May 30, 1984.

In Table 3b of the report asterisks are placed in front of the appropriate nuclides with a footnote stating the totals listed included quantities estimated to have been released from the condensate

' storage tank leak. This note is erroneous in that the totals do not include the activity estimated to have been released.

We would like to correct the report and state our present positiion on reporting of the abnormal activity release by amending the report as follows:

1.

Add to Ib, Abnormal Releases, following the present sentence, the

-following:

The activity released remained "onsite" and approximately 99% was excavated to be shipped as low level waste to a licensed burial ground.

The remaining approximate 1% will be reported following approval from Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) on Big Rock Point's request to retain contaminated soil on-site in accordance with 10CFR20.302, submitted August 16, 1985.
