REGARDING THE POSSIBILITY OF DECOMMISSIONING OF THE OYSTER l CREEK NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION 1

l At the request of GPU Nuclear, Inc., (licensee), a public meeting was held on March 29, 1999, at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generation Station (OCNGS) at Forked River, New Jersey.

The licensee made a presentation regarding their option to shut down and decommission the OCNGS, and the NRC staff made a brief presentation on ongoing staff activities related to decommissioning. Enclosure 1 is the list of attendees. The presentations followed the enclosed meeting handouts (Enclosure 2) and primarily centered on the actc it;es associated with the possible shutdown and decommissioning OCNGS in the year 2000. As noted in the handouts, the licensee had not made a final decision on the shutdown.
