Gentlemen:
Thank you for your letters of July 31, 1986, and September 10, 1986, in
i
response to our letters dated July 2,1986, and August 13, 1986. We have
noted your disagreement with the issuance of Violation 482/8613-02. Although
we agree that the discrepancy noticed on Work Request 02222-86 would probably
have been discovered during the final review process, we contend that
regulatory requirements were not met in that the information required by the
procedure was not provided. We have no further questions at this time and will
review your corrective action during a future inspection.

Subj:
Request for Additional Information Concerning
Violation 50-482/8613-02
Dear Mr. Johnson:
The purpose of this letter is to provide additional information to that
autrnitted in Reference 1,
concerning the correc tive action taken in
response to Violation 482/8613-02.
The violation has been placed in the
electrical and mechanical maintenance required reading program, (Required
Reading Number 86-36), to ensure maintenance personnel are cognizant of
the importance of following procedures and properly documenting the
required information.
This action will reduce the possibility of future
similar occurences.
Although maintenance personnel did not properly document the required
information, KG&E does not believe that this single occurrence warrants a
violation.
As stated in Reference 1 the work request program requires a
final review of work requests to ensure that the appropriate information
is included on work requests prior to sending them to the vault.
Due to
the fact that this was an isolated occurrence and the program in place
would have found this omission, KG&E feels that this would better be
classified as a deviation rather than a violation.
