Affirmation of Decommissioning Funds Availability: Re Licenses SNM-696, R-38 and R-67
Dear Mr. Crow:
On May 8, 1986, General Atomic Technologies Corporation ("GATC") filed an application for the consent of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for a transfer of control of GA Technologies Inc. ("GA"), the holder of licenses SNM-696, R-38 and R-67.
You have requested that GATC affirm in writing, as General Atomic Company did in its October 7, 1981 letter to you, that following' the transfer of control of GA to GATC, necessary funds to cover the decommissioning costs are or will be available at the end of the useful life of GA's licensed facilities.
General Atomic Technologies Corporation affirms that sufficient funds to cover the various decommissioning costs will be available from GA's operating budgets, liquid assets and associated reserves.
In addition there are contractual obligations of third parties with respect to funding of such decommissioning costs.
Very truly yours, GENERAL ATOMIC TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION p
