HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION MONTHLY OPERATING

SUMMARY

August 1986 On August 1, 1986, the main generator was sychronized to the grid for the first time and the unit operated at 27MWe for 3 hours3.472222e-5 days
8.333333e-4 hours
4.960317e-6 weeks
1.1415e-6 months
before being taken off the line in support of a scheduled shutdown.

On August 8, 1986, a design problem was discovered with the Reactor Building to Torus Vacuum breakers which rendered the components inoperable and resulted in a unit shutdown.

After an extensive review and implementation of corrective action, the unit was

(

restarted on August 12, 1986.

The Shutdown from Outside the Con-trol Room test to hot shutdown was successfully completed on 3

August 22, 1986.

A continuation of the test to cold shutdown was not successful because of a stuck open Safety Relief Valve which occurred late in the test.

The later portion of the procedure will be rerun at a future date.

The unit remained in COLD SHUTDOWN after the test for approximately the remainder of the month for an inspection of Bailey Alarm Modules.
