COMBUSTIBLE GAS CONTROL Re:
Cooper Nuclear Station This letter acknowledges your letter of July 31, 1986 which advises of your intention to seek an exemption from 10 CFR 50.44, showing that the Cooper Nuclear Station nitrogen inerting system provides a means of combustible gas control equivalent to a nitrogen purge /repressurization system.
In lieu of attempting to show that the nitrogen inerting' system provides 'a suitable basis for an exemption, you may wish to show that the nitrogen inerting system satisfies the rule and no exemption is necessary.
In either case, we would like to have your analysis within 60 days of the date of this letter.
