Docket File No. WM-67 FROM:
Raymond O. Gonzales, Project Manager Licensing Branch 1 Uranium Recovery Field Office, Region IV
SUBJECT:
NRC CONCURRENCE ON DOE'S PROPOSAL TO HAVE NEW MEXICO ACQUIRE THE AMBROSIA LAKE SITE In a letter to URF0 dated February 23, 1987, DOE requested NRC concurrence for early acquisition of the Ambrosia Lake site by the State of New Mexico.
The Division of Waste Management, NMSS (DWM), has the responsibility for concurring with such requests, so we forwarded the letter to them for response to DOE. On April 2, 1987, Malcolm Knapp, Chief of the Low-Level Waste and Uranium Recovery Projects Branch of DWM, sent DOE a letter providing NRC concurrence (see enclosure).
Since NRC has responded and concurred with DOE's decision to acquire the Ambrosia Lake site, I am placing a copy of the memorandum in the docket file.
