SUBJECT:
EQUlFMENT QUALIFICATION INSFECTION - KEWAUNEE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT This letter ccnfirms the dates of March 9-13, IS87, for the NRC Environmental Qualification (EQ) Inspection of electrical and instrumentation equipment, at the Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant. These dates were established during a January 28, 1987, telephone conversation between Mr. K. Hoops of your staff and Mr. A. S. Gautam of my staff. The inspecticn will be performed by a six meinber inspection team with Mr. A. S. Gautam of the Region III office as lead inspector.
The following areas will be inspected:
1.
Implementation of corrective action comitments addressed in the final Kewaunee EQ Safety, Evaluation Report.
2.
Compliance to EQ regulations of 10 CFR 50.49, including Program Procedures, Master Equipitent List, Maintenance, Procurement, Upgrading of Replacement Equipment, Quality Assurance and Employee Training.
3.
Adequacy of equipment qualification files, including responses to relevant NRC Information Notices and Bulletins.
4.
Installation and maintenance of selected plant EQ equipment.
A management entrance meeting is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on March 9, 1987, at the plant site. A plant walkdown inspection cf selected EQ equipment is scheduled for March 11, 1987, and an NRC exit meeting is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on March 13, 1987. To facilitate NRC preparation for this inspection, Mr. Hoops of your staff has been requested to submit the following Kewaunee EQ documents no later than February 20, 1987.
