Docket No. 50-285 2.

Letter, NRC (W. A. Paulson) to OPPD (R. L. Andrews) dated March 9, 1987 Gentlemen:

SUBJECT:

Generic Letter 83 Request for Extension of Time for Response By Reference 2, OPPD was requested to provide additional information related to our November 4, 1983 and May 24, 1985 submittals to General Letter 83-28,

" Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATWS Events". The information was requested within 45 days of the receipt of Reference 2.

OPPD respectfully requests an extension of time, until September 1, 1987, to provide our response. The additional time is needed because of outage related workloads, SSOMI related corrective actions, and the impact of Region IV comments regarding the Vendor Manual Control Program at Fort Calhoun Station.

If you have questions regarding this request, please contact us.

Sincerely, R. L. Andrews Division Manager Nuclear Production RLA/me cc: LeBoeuf, Lamb, Leiby & MacRae 1333 New Hampshire Ave., N.W.
