Gentlemen:
SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT N0. 50-424/86-105
On August 11, 1986, through August 15, 1986, the NRC performed an inspection at
the Vogtle job site of Readiness Review Module 22, " Independent Design Review"
(IDR).
The objective of that inspection was to ensure that the IDR's results
and conclusions were technically acceptable as well as to verify that the
resulting corrective actions were appropriate.
Also, IDR open items from
previous inspection reports were reviewed.
The results of this inspection are
documented in the attached inspection report and were discussed with your staff
at our inspection exit meeting.
During this inspection all previous IDR inspection report open items were
closed. NRC's assessment of the validity of the results and conclusions of the
IDR and the appropriateness of corrective actions will be addressed by the
evaluation report that is being prepared for Module 22.
Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were
identified.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2,
Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosure
will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
