Dear Ms. Sragcw:
This is in response to your letter dated September 3,1985, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, a set of the design plans for the McQuire nuclear power plant.
In a telephone conversation with Ms. Mary Jean Pool of my staff on September 9,1985, you clarified your request is for a copy of the current design plan (as of February 28,1985) for the Unit 2 upper containment building, specifically the area where the reactor building fuel handling manipulator crane was located on February 28 at the time of the accident in which an employee was fatally injured.
Please find enclosed a ccpy of the requested drawin You may also be interested in the Final Safety Analysis Report (g.FSAR) for the McQuire nuclear power plant. The FSAR is available for inspection and copying at the NRC's Public Document Room (PDR) 1717 4 Street, NW, Washington, DC 20555,and the Local Public Document Room (LPDR), Ms. Dawn Hubbs Document Librarian, J. Hurrey Atkins Library, UNCC Station, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Charlotte, NC 28223, telephone 704-597-2243. A copy of the notice which explains the procedures and charges for obtaining records from the PDR is enclosed.
