RFD =2 BOX 84 April 20, 1987 PUTNEY, VERMONT 05346 802-257-0357 Mr. Charles Beckhoefer Chairman Atomic Safety and Licensing Board

Dear Mr. Beckhoefer:

We are writing to express our feelings about Vermont Yankee as both a neighbor and customer. Over the past fifteen years we have been residents of this area and have developed a high regard for the company.

With respect to the proposed expansion to the spent fuel pool, we feel that management has made good sound decisions in the past and find no reason why this cannot continue. If they feel that the proposed expansion can be achieved successfully, then we are confident that it can be done. As members of the public we are placing trust in a local industry which has contributed to the high quality of community life.

As business associates, we place this trust for more edu-cated and professional reasons. We are film producers and have created many presentations for nuclear power companies in New England and New York State. During these projects we have become knowledgeable on the subject and observed the management operations at many different facilities. We feel that vermont Yankee's opar ting tandards are among the highest in the industry cr.d have developed an appreciation for their excellent operating and safety records that few other community members may be aware of.

For these reasons we support Vermont Yankee's proposal to expand their facilities. We trust their good judgement and integrity and will help to convince the community that they are exceptionally good neighbors.
