MEETING WITH MANAGEMENT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY As discussed during a cor.ference call on March 9,1983, R. DeYoung. J. L. Crews and I cet witt. William R. Gould, Chairman of the Board, David J. Fogarty, Executive Vice President and Robert Dietch, Vice President, Nuclear Engineering and Operations, Southern California Edison Company (SCE) on March 7,1933.
The meeting was a special enforcement conference held with senior SCE g
management for the purpose of discussing the need for improvement in the regulatory performance of SCEg the management of its licensed power reactor facilities.

Enclosed is a copy of a letter to me from Mr. Gould confirming his recognition of the need for improvement in SCE's performance and commit.ing to a number

of specific corrective measures to be taken by SCE.
I wou13 like to call your attention to !tes. No. 3 which states that Mr. Gould feals it would be
.l prudent to delay the_ currently scheduled March 28, 1983 Unit 3 full-power license meeting with the Connission for at-least 30 days. Region V concurs I
]i with that decision and rec 6.that you initiate action to chtain that deferral.
