RESPONSE TO INSPECTION REPORT 86-011 OPEN ITEM 50-255/86011-01 In response to NRC Open Item 50-255/86011-01, the following are the results of the analysis of an unknown sample from the NRC. The results do not include analyses for Sr-89 and Sr-90, as they were inadvertently lost at the off-site vendor's facility.

The results were obtained by analysing 10 milliliter of the unknown sample on Detector #2 (CPCo #8428-00039). The percent error from the spectral printout is provided in parentheses following the activity for each isotope. Activity is reported in microcuries per milliliter. The sample was " decay corrected" to 0800, January 11, 1986, and analysed on April 7, 1986, at 1057 EST.

Isotope Ac_tivity Mn-54 6.1 E-5 pei/ml (8)

Co-60 7.4 E-5 pei/ml (7)

Cs-137 9.3 E-5 pci/ml (5)

Secondly, per Open Item 50-255/86011-01, a sample from Clean Waste Receiver Tank T-64A was collected on April 22, 1986 at 1750 EST and split with the NRC.

The sample was analysed on both Detector #2 and on Detector #3 (CPCo #8428-00158). The percent error from the spectral printout is provided in parenthe-ses following the activity for each isotope. Activity is reported in microcuries per milliliter.
