DPR-71 & DPR-62 SUPPLEMENT TO REQUEST FOR LICENSE AMENDMENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESPONSE TIME TESTING Gentlemen:

On November 13,1986, Carolina Power & Light Company requested a license amendment to delete the requirement to perform response time testing on various temperature switches and thermocouples listed in Table 3.3.2-3. Subsequent to this submittal, a conference call was held with members of your staff to discuss whether any accident analysis addresses the affected temperature sensors' response times. The Company has re-verified that the Brunswick Plant Updated Final Safety Analysis Report does not take credit for temperature sensor response in any accident analysis.

Please refer any further questions regarding tb matter to Mr. Stephen D. Floyd at (919) 836-6901.

Yours very truly, MJW
