We have received an allegation pertaining to documenting causes for some types of security alams. To assist in resolving this issue, you are requested to send security computer printouts showing alarms received on the protected area perimeter between February 10-22, 1987. The printouts should contain the cause for the alarm as annotated by the alarm station operators.

If a code is

used to annotate cause of alarm, please provide a document s'iowing the code meanings. You are also requested to send a copy of any document such as a procedure, memorandum, or lesson plan which provides guidance to security force personnel in determining the cause for alarms.

Finally, please provide us a copy of your inquiry results and conclusions pertaining to documenting cause for alarms as discussed with your security staff on March 9, 1987.

If you consider the above documents Safeguards Inforr.ation, you should comply with 10 CFR 73.21 and station procedures for the marking, protection, and transmittal of the documents. You will be advised if additional inquiries are considered necessary after our review cf the above documents is completed.

The response directed by this letter is not subject to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
