Subject: Management Meeting and Inspection No. 50-289/87-04
On February 12, 1987, Region I held a Management Meeting at the NRC
Region I office, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, with you and other GPU
Nuclear representatives to discuss your revised technical and safety
review program and the result of your task force designed to resolve the
handling of the procedure adherence problem at your facility. A followup
inspection was also conducted at your Corporate Office in Parsippany, New
Jersey, on February 18, 1987.
The enclosed report describes the scope of the meeting, our understanding
regarding your commitments, and our additional review conducted at your
Corporate Office. We found the meeting and followup review were benefi-
cial and improved our understanding of the objectives and methodology
used in your technical and safety review process.
-At this point, we need to assimilate the additional information we
gathered as a result of this review. The resolution of the subject
inspection findings on your new technical and safety review process will
occur in a future NRC it.spection.
