CNSI manufacturing procedures 2MP-002 and 2MP-003 control the honding and curing techniques for fabricating each of the steel-lead-steel composite cask components. This fabrication method has been demonstrated to l

result in lap shear strengths in excess of 5000 psi.

"How to join lead with Adhesives", ADHESIVES AGE, Septenber 1968 and 3-M Product Specification Data sneets for 2024-T3 aluminum adherend and AF-126 (008) structural adhesive). This bonding strength is accounted for in certain portions of the structural analysis.

L The model 21-300 shipping cask can carry a liner (s), or 21 55-gallon drums.

In either ccse, the appropriate load distribution pallet is installed en top of the payload. The I

cask can also accept an internal auxiliary shield for use with 55-gallon drums or liner (s) containing solidified waste or solid reactor components. The packaaing confiouration can, therefore, exist in various forms,16cluding the following:

i.-

Liner (s) with load distribution pallet (Dwg. 1-298-101 A).

ii. 21 gallon drums with load distribution pallet (Dwg. C-114-D-0006).

iii. 21 gallon drums with auxiliary shield (Dwg. C-Il4-E-0004) and load distribution pallet (Dwg. C-Il4-D-0006).

iv. Liner (s).containing solidified waste or solid reactor components with the auxiliary shield (Dwg. C-114-E-0004) and load distribution pallet (Dwg. C-114-D-0006).,

The gross cask weight is 57,450 pounds including a maximur.

stresses in the primary lid are considered. This analysis takes credit for the use of a loao distribution pallet (CNSI Dwg. C-114-D-0006 or 1-298-101 A) which distributes the resultant loading from the cask contents over the primary lid.
