Subj ect: Cycle 19 Core Performance Analysis for the Yankee Nuclear Power Station

Dear Ms. McKenna:

The purpose of this letter is to transmit the enclosed report, " Yankee Nuclear Power Station Core XIK Performance Analysis," YAEC-1583, for your information. This report presents the Yankee Cycle 19 Core Performance Analysis Results which were derived using methods which were previously reviewed and approved by the Commission.

The results of the Cycle 19 Core Performance Analysis indicate that:

(1) There are no increases in the probability of occurrence or the consequences of an accident or malfunction previously evaluated, (2) There are no accidents or malfunctions created of a different type than any previously evaluated, and (3) The margins of safety provided by limiting conditions of operation specified in the present Yankee Nuclear Power Station's Technical Specifications are not reduced.

Thus we'have determined, pursuant to 10CFR50.59, that the operation of Yankee Cycle 19 does not involve any unreviewed safety questions.

Additionally, the Cycle 19 core performance analysis does not require any change to the Technical Specifications of the Yankee Nuclear Power Station.

The above determination has been reviewed by the Yankee Nuclear Power )

Station Plant Operations Review Committee and the Nuclear Safety Audit and i Review Committee.
