STAFF REQUIREMENTS - BRIEFING ON FINAL VERSION OF DRAFT NUREG-1150 (SOURCE TEPN),
2:00 P.M.,
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 1987, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, D.C. OFFICE (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)
The Commission was briefed by the staff on the final draft of the Reactor Risk Reference Document, NUREG-1150.
Commissioner Asselstine requested the staff to consider asking the National Academy of Sciences to review NUREG-0956 and NUREG-1150.
The staff committed to the following actions:
1.
Investigate means of determining (within the range of uncertainties) best estimate failure probabilities.
2.
Investigate if an optimum evacuation plan can be derived from the ongoing Source Term efforts (e.g., distance to which one evacuates and how quickly one can evacuate to different distances.)
3.
Provide the Commission a copy of the report referenced in NUREG-1150 which discusses subjective judgment in uncer-tainty analyses tied to weather forecasting. Also provide a bibliography of reports dealing with subjective judgments by experts.
(Subsequently, Commissioner Asselstine requested the staff to indicate which of the reports in the biblio-graphy appear in archival peer reviewed journals.)
