Dear Mr. Denton:

In response to a request from C.E. Gaskin of the NRC Staff, please find attached a supplemental response which changes a portion of the Duke Power Company response to questions which was transmitted to you by my letter of June 5, 1984, subject as tbove.

The changes are a Licensee Identified Safeguards Event related to the Standby Shutdown System (SSS) Auxiliary Feedwater piping.

This Licensee Identified Safeguards Event was reported to the NRC/ Region II personnel by my letter to Dr. J. Nelson Grace dated July 22, 1985 (copy attached).

The attached material is applicable to the security provisions at Catawba Nuclear Station; therefore, Duke requests that this material be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to 10CFR 73.21.
