Mr. Dan Muller BWR Project Directorate #2 Division of BWR Licensing United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT NOS.1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-325 & 50-324/ LICENSE NOS. DPR-71 & DPR-62 CONTROL ROOM DESIGN REVIEW - FINAL
SUMMARY
REPORT
Dear Mr. Muller:
Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) hereby submits the Final Summary Report (FSR) for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP) Control Room Design Review (CRDR). The CRDR FSR is being submitted within the time frame stated in CP&L Letter NLS-84-506, " Supplemental Response to Generic Letter 82-33 Requirements for Emergency Response Capability," dated December 27,1984.
The attached CRDR FSR provides the information required by NUREG-0737 Supplement I for the staff to complete its review of the BSEP CRDR program methodology. In addition, the FSR incorporates that material discussed with the NRC and SAI reviewers during the September 12,1985, BSEP CRDR meeting.
As indicated in the FSR and per discussions with Mr. R. Ramirez and Mr. E. Sylvester of your staff on November 13,1986, approximately 18% of the BSEP Human Engineering Discrepancies (HED) are currently undergoing review to determine the proper HED l
dispositions. The results of these studies and an implementation schedule for the respective HEDs will be submitted to you by June 30,1987. Please note that appropriate dispositions have been provided in Appendix A of the FSR for the remainder of the HEDs, l
including the 10 Priority i HEDs.
The proposed implementation schedules were developed by taking into consideration the HED priority, integration of the corrective action with other NUREG-0737, Supplement 1 activities, CP&L resources, and previously scheduled projects / commitments. Should a revision to this schedule be needed, we will promptly notify the NRC of any changes.
