On behalf of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), I would like to thank you for your assistance and participation in conducting the public meeting at the San Clemente Community Center on February 25,1999. The meeting was held to discuss the decommissioning of San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1. The use of your facilities and the help of your city's staff was greatly appreciated.
The NRC is committed to protecting the public health and safety and strives to maintain an openness in communications with the public. Public meetings such as this help to ensure that local communitie,s affected by our work are informed of significant events in our regulatory framework.
