Dear Mr. Denton:
l Reference (a) provided the NRC with Commonwealth Pdison Company's commitments regarding, among other issues, Zion's Safety Parameter Display System (SPDS). These commitments included the performance of a human factors review of SPDS data display and functions, verification of SPDS parameter selection, and the identification of the schedule for any required modifications. These commitments were clarified in reference (b).
This transmittal is supplying the NRC staff with one bound and one unbound copy of
" Final Summary Report of the Human Factors Review for the Zion Station SPDS".
This report fulfills the commitments discussed above.
Appendices C and D identify the findings of this effort. All corrective actions, if not specifically stated, will be complete by December 31, 1987.
Reference (c) provided a description of Commonwealth Edison Company's Verification and Validation Plan for SPDS. This effort will be completed in early 1987. All results'to date are consistent with the information obtained during the human factors review of the SPDS. However, Commonwealth Edison will notify the NRC if any of the findings of the enclosed report are altered.
