Docket No. 50-285 (2)

Letter OPPD (R. L. Andrews) to NRC (A. C. Thadani) dated January 28, 1986 (LIC-86-025)

Dear Mr. Thadani:

Detailed Control Room Design Review (DCRDR)

Schedule Revision The attachment of Reference (2) was a time line used to group all the remaining items of the DCRDR into one schedule. As stated in Reference (2), this schedule was based upon information available at that time.

(

Since that time, work has been started, and is well underway, on the labeling, domarcation, meter banding and color coding study.

However, after beginning work, it was found that the study will require more time to complete than was originally projected in Reference (2).

Specifically, it is taking more time than originally projected to analyze the information present in each and every label in the control room.

This matter has been discussed with Fort Calhoun's NRC Project Manager, D. E. Sells. At this time, we are planning on a completion date of September 30, 1986 for the labeling, demarcation, color coding and meter banding study.

Mr. A. C. Thadani July 23,1986 Page Two Much of the labeling / demarcation study serves as a prerequisite to the human fac-tors maintenance plan.

It can be seen from the attachment to Reference (2) that the completion of the human factors maintenance plan is tied into the completion of the labeling / demarcation study. The completion of the human factors mainten-ance plan is planned to lag the completion of the labeling / demarcation study by approximately 45 days. This would revise the schedule to show completion of the human factors maintenance plan by November 15, 1986.

If you should have any questions concerning this schedule revision, please do not hesitate to call.

Sincerely, R. L. Andrews Division Manager Nuclear Production RLA/rh cc:
