ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING PROGRAM COORDINATION WITH THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA This is to document discussions between Mr. D. Sommers and Mr. L. Thommason of your staff and Mr. A. Ignatonis of the NRC on November 10, 1986, regarding the Commonwealth of Virginia Environmental Monitoring program in the vicinity of VEPC0 plants.
The Commonwealth of Virginia, as part of an NRC contract, performs environmental monitoring around the North Anna and Surry facilities.
This program includes split sample collection, analysis, and an annual report to the NRC listing Commonwealth and licensee environmental results.
It is our understanding an agreement was reached during the telephone call on the following points.
1.
VEPC0 representatives agreed to provide environmental data to the Comonwealth of Virginia on a quarterly basis for inclusion in reports.
2.
VEPC0 representatives agreed to submit the fourth quarter data to the Comonwealth no later than the end of February.
The NRC encourages your participation in the Environmental Monitoring program and appreciates your cooperative efforts to make this program a success. The program provides independent verification of your results, promotes Comonwealth/ licensee cooperation, and improves public information.
