Dear Sir:

In Reference (b), we reported a 10CFR50.55(e) deficiency regarding a possible malfunction of Figure 3050 Diaphragm Valves supplied by Dresser Industries. This deficiency is caused by the valve disc cap being capable ot cocking in the disc guide and wedging, thereby not allowing the disc to move. In this instance, the upper stem may be raised with the disc re-maining in a closed or partially closed position. Failure of the valve (s) to open would render the hydrogen analyzers inoperable and prevent con-tainment hydrogen sampling capability.

The corrective action, modifications to the disc guides [ Reference (c)),

have been completed for Units 1 and 2. This is considered our final report on this item.
