SUBJECT:
HOSPITALIZED EMPLOYEE. INCORRECTLY DIAGNOSED A

BEING CONTAMINATED WITH RADIOACTIVITY At 2:45 p.m. on November 9, FP&L was notified by the Commun to the hospital as a patient, had radioactive co mr/hr.
FP&L medical consultants, who were dispatched to the hospital,
determined by 9:30 p.m. that the indication of radioactive contami had been caused by ten millicuries of technetium adninistered by t hospital to the patient for a' thyroid scan.

The NRC does not plan to make a news release but responded to nui press inquiries. An IE inspector arrived at the hospital at 9:20 p.m. on November 9.
Region II (Atlanta) received notification'of this occurrence by telep from the Plant Manager at 4:30 p.m. on November 9.
