PROJECT STATUS Task Order A - Review of Preservice Inspection Activities A.

Task

Description:

This task establishes a team of qualified individuals to perform and report the results of a review of Preservice Inspection Activities at the South Texas Project, Unit 1.

This review is accomplished in accordance with four NRC supplied inspection modules.

B.

Efforts Completed During This Period: A three man team was assembled and an in-depth review was accomplished based upon four inspection modules (Inspection and Enforcement Manuals 73051, 73052, 73053B and 730558).

During the period of 06-02-86 through 06-13-86, the scope of the review encompassed examination of documents, procedures, records, interviews with personnel of the preservice inspection contractor, and surveillance of hands-on magnetic particle and ultrasonic inspections at the above indicated plant. A comprehensive report of these activities was initiated and is progressing satisfactorily.

Review personnel have gained considerable experience in this review process.

The pre-established schedule of two weeks at the plant was reached.
