Request for Additional Information Regarding Generic Letter 83-28, Items 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.2.1, 3.2.2, and 4.5.1 for Vogtle, Units 1 and 2 We _have ccrroleted our review of your responses to Generic Letter (GL) 83-28 dated November 8,1983, and August 26, 1986.
Your responses were evaluated for compliance to the staff's positions delineated in Generic Letter 83-28 for Items 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.2.1, 3.2.2, and 4.5.1.
Your responses to these items were found to be incomplete requiring additional information to determine acceptability. Descriptions of the deficiencies are discussed in greater detail in the enclosed request for additional information.

- iOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT GENERIC LETTER 83-28 ITEMS 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.2.I, 3.2.2 and 4.5.1 Item 3.1.1 - Incomplete Georgia Power Company (GPC) needs to submit an unambiguous statement confiming that post-maintenance testing of reactor trip system components is required and that the test procedures were reviewed to ensure that the testing demonstrates that the equipment is capable of performing its intended safety function.
If not, a schedule should be submitted for when the review will be completed.
Item 3.1.2 - Incomplete GPC indicated that when procedures are reviewed at Vogtle, part of the review criteria is to review the procedure against the applicable vendor manuals.
However, it is not quite clear from GPC's response whether this review entailed 1
j a check of vendor and engineering reconsnendations to ensure that appropriate i
test guidance is included in the test and maintenance procedures or the Tech-l~
nical Specifications.
If GPC's program for reviewing procedures does adequately verify that appropriate vendor and engineering test guidance have been incorporated into these procedures, then GPC should provide a statement confiming that the requirements of Item 3.1.2 have been completed.
If not, GPC should submit a schedule for when this review will be completed.
