I l
On June 3,1988, the NRC issued an evaluation of a letter submitted by f
j Carolina Power & Light Company concerning Technical Specifications for i
the main stack radiation monitors at the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant j
l (BSEP), Units 1 and 2.
The staff determined that Technical Specifications for the operability of the main stack monitor signal j
3' circuitry to isolate containment purge and vent valves should be submitted within 45 days of receipt of the evaluation.
l 4
The Company received the evaluation on June 8,1988.
Thus, the response i
is due to the NRC on July 22, 1988. Carolina Power & Light Company has j
deterruined that more time is necessary to prepare the requested j
l Technical Specification change because there is no Standard Technical Specification guidance for the type of system installed at BSEP.
Therefore, the Company plans to submit a Technical Specification change j
for the main stack radiation monitors no later than September 30, 1988.
Please refer any questions regarding this submittal to Mr. Stephen D.
j Floyd at (919) 836 6901.
