NRC Management Directives Custodians

Subject:

Transmittal of Directive 8.11, " Review Process for 10 CFR 2.206 Petitions"

Purpose:

Directive and Handbook 8.11 have been revised to reflect more accurately the responsibilities of the Office of the Executive Director for Operations, the Office of the General Counsel, assigned program offices, and petition managers. The directive also has been changed to reflect the results of a recent pilot program. The previous staff process has changed by introducing a new 2.206 petition review board responsible for O

reviewing each new 2.206 petition to ensure more management involvement at an earlier time.

Furthermore, new requirements have been added for tracking the timeliness and resource expenditures associated with 2.206 petitions.
