Subject:
Emergency and Startup Feedwater Pumps
Dear Sir:
In response to Reference (c), we confirmed that the information pro-vided in Reference (b) is correct and the Staff's understanding of the situation is correct.
In order to further clarify the situation, we will update the FSAR Figure 6.8-2 with the results of the Emergency Feedwater Pump field test curves and a certified Startup Pump curve. These curves have been previously provided to the Staff by Reference (b). We will also modif y Table 6.8-1 ( Attachment 1) for further clarity.
Our verbal commitment to verify the full flow capability via the steam generator path is assured by the Technical Specifications. The final draft of the Auxiliary Feedwater Surveillance Requirement 4.7.1.2.2 which requires the design flow to each steam generator from both the Emergency and Startup Feedwater Pumps to be verified periodically.
This periodic verification is in addition to the surveillance testing via the recirculation paths while the plant is in operation.

-Attention:
Mr. Vincent S. Noonan '
Page 2 We believe your request for testing the Startup Feedwater Pump via the emergency flow path is accomplished by the Technical Specification surveillance testing requirements discussed above.
The revision to FSAR Figure 6.8-2 and Table 6.8-1 will be included in a future amendment to the Seabrook FSAR.
Very truly yours, P*
