DEFUELING I
Bulk defueling operation continues using heavy duty hydraulic chisel i
end srull spade bucket tcols. Two fuel canisters have been filled to date since operations began August 12, 1986.
Hydrogen peroxide was added to reactor coolant to kill the l
c:icroorganisns which reduce visibility, thereby hampering defueling operations.

PLMT STATUS The reactor reiacins in long tem cold shutdown, vented to the ataosphere.
Core cooling is by natural heat loss to acbient building atmosphere. The average incore themoccuple reading is 8::* F.
The airborne radioactivity on the defueling platform above the reactor vessel is about 6.0 E-7 uti/cc Tritium and 5.6 E-12 uCf/cc particulates, predcainately Cesium-137 and Strontium-90 About 15 feet of water over the core region and 6 feet over the cerousel j
holding the defueling canisters provide shielding.

ENVIR0hMErlTAL MONITORING US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sample analysis results show that TitI site liquid effluents are in accordance with l
regulatory liraits, NRC requirements, and The City of Lancaster Agreement.

The EPA coalysis of the URC cutdoor air sur.ple for the pariud August 14 - El, ISG6 showed that concentrations of Cs-137 and I-131 ucre below the lower limit of quantitctiva detectability for the systui.
