Inspection No. 50-354/86-37
A routine radiological controls inspection was conducted at the Hope Creek
Nuclear Generating Station by Mr. R. L. Nimitz during the period July 30-
August 1, 1986. The inspection findings were discussed with Mr. R. S.
Salvesen.
The inspection covered: action on previous findings; organization and
staffing; ccmmunications; audits; ALARA;high radiation area control; in plant .
radiological controls; and startup radiation surveys.
Some deficiencies were identified in the areas of: high radiation
area access control; performance and documentation of radiation survey measurements;
and supervisory review of radiation survey data. The deficiencies are
described in the enclosed report and are being addressed by your staff.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosure
will be placad in the NRC Public Document Room.
No violations were identified and no reply to this letter is required.
