April 11,1999 Darl Hood NRC Project Manager NMI Dear Mr. Hooi I am writing you concerning Nine Mile I Nuclear Power Plant. I have attended meetings and read about the problems concerning the shroud and I believe that more action must be taken to protect the lives and property of upstate New York residents.
I would like to see further testing of any cracks and a release of the report to the public before the plant is restarted It is my belief that the NRC has been very weak in enforcing their mandate that ultimately is to protect the public. If your decisions in this matter result in a catastrophe, I hope you are prepared to live with the destruction of thousands oflives and the regional economy. I hope you make a decision in the best interests of your fellow citizens and not your pocketbook.
