A routine safety inspection was conducted by Mr. P. Clemons of this office on
May 5-8, 1986, of the Maine Yankee Nuclear Generating Station radioactive
! materials transportation program. Areas reviewed included management

controls, training, shipments of radioactive material, procedures, Part 61,
outstanding items, and the low level radioactive waste storage facility.
The inspection indicated that one of your activities was in apparent violation
of NRC requirements. Details are provided in enclosed Appendix A. You are
required to respond to this finding by following the instructions included in
