Dear Mr. Holtzscher:

SUBJECT:

INSERVICE INSPECTION RELIEF REQUESTS FOR THE CLINTON POWER STATION The staff has reviewed Inservice Inspection Relief Request Numbers 5003 and 5004 for the Clinton Power Station per Illinois Power Company's (IP's) letters dated March 30, 1988 and August 3, 1988. The enclosed safety evaluation concludes that IP's comitments provide a sufficient basis for justifying the relief requests for replacement parts without ASME certification. Hence these l

t relief requests are acceptable. However. IP should certify compliance with their coritments when replacements are completed.

For further information or clarification, please contact me at (301) 492-1397.
