REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR REVIEW 0F SITE STABILIZATION PLAN Re: Hartsville Nuclear Plant A A preliminary review of the Hartsville Nuclear Plant A Site Stabilization Plan has been completed. Enclosed is a request for additional information. The section numbers in the left hand margin refer to the applicant's site stabili-zation report. Please provide the information identified in the enclosure for the NRC staff to complete its review.

Approximately two weeks after we receive your response, we would like to arrange a site visit.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.

l Section 2.1 1) Provide a scaled site plan showing areas (including transmission corridors) disturbed by construction -

related activities. Identify the specific use of each disturbed area.

Section 2.1 2) On the site plan, identify all structures including

& stacks and towers. Indicate which will be removed and 2.2 which will remain. If removal will be accomplished in stages, provide a schedule. If demolition wastes are to be buried, or used as landfill, show the disposal areas on the site plan.

Section 2.1 3) Describe in more detail the restoration of the denuded and spoils areas. These details should include the steps and .

schedule for restoration, the type of grass to be seeded, I and any plans for monitoring or inspecting the area after restoration (including frequency of inspections).

Section 1.0 4) Provide copies of any regulatory permits which will be in effect during or after the stabilization process. If these permits have been modified as a result of the Plant A cancellation, provide copies of the modified version. If any permits are in the process of being modified, discuss the modifications being considered. In addition to the copies of the permits, provide a summary listing all monitoring, inspection, and maintenance requirements detailed, or about to be detailed, in the permits.

Section 2.3 5) Describe the design basis (e.g., calculations, perscriptive criteria, engineering judgment) for the construction of holding ponds. If calculations and/or perscriptive criteria were used, provide a copy of the calculations and/or criteria in sufficient detail, such that an independent check of the results can be made. Provide the pond drainage areas, volumes, and surface areas. Also, provide a description of the outlet of each pond including dimensions, elevations and hydraulic rating, if available.

Section 2.3 6) Provide piezometric contour maps for any aquifers intercepted by buildings or excavations on the site. Specifically,

, identify the locations on the map where any of these aquifers are intercepted. Describe any continuing effects of site construction on off site groundwater levels.
