RESPONSE TO GENEPIC LETTER 83-28, ITEM 4.3 WASHINGTON NUCLEAR POWER 1 2 a (WhP-1)

By letter dated March 30, 1984, Washington Public Supply System (WPPSS) provided a general response to Generic Letter 83-28 (Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATWS Events).

We have evaluated the WPPSS response to item 4.3 (Automatic Actuation of Shunt Trip Attachment for Westinghouse and B&W Plants) and found it acceptable. Our Safety Evaluation (SE) is enclosed.

In view of the current status of WNP-1, we recommend that the enclosed SE be retained and tracked as a future commitment for the point at which the project is restarted. At that time please advise this office if there are any  ;
