Inspection 50-333/87-05
This refers to the routine inspection conducted by Mr. A. Luptak of this office
on January 31, 1987 to March 13, 1987, at the J.A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power
Plant, Scriba, New York. Mr. Luptak discussed the inspection findings with you
and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were identified. However,
concerns were raised over recent test results in which a Safety Relief Valve
failed to lift within the required tolerance. The operation of this valve was
questioned when it apparently failed to open during an event in July 1985. We
will review your analysis and corrective actions upon submittal of the supple-
mental Licensee Event Report.
