SUBJECT: REPORT NOS. 50-327/86-27 AND 50-328/86-27

We have received your letter dated June 2,1986, which requests a 2 to 4 week

extension to respond to the subject inspection report. We acknowledge the

complex nature of responding to this design control inspection report and will

accommodate your request.

We request that you also provide this office with an assessment of how identi-

fied deficiencies in the design control process at Sequoyah apply to your other

nuclear facilities and how the design verification program and engineering as-

surance oversight will apply te these facilities. A response within 30 days

after receipt of this letter would be appreciated. Separate responses for Watts

Bar, Browns Ferry, and Bellefonte are requested.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter will be placed in the

NRC Public Document Room.
