Subject:

McG11re Nuclear Station Docket Ntabers 50-369 and -370 RID Bypass Resuoval By License Anendments 84 (Unit 1) and 65 (Unit 2), the NBC authorized Duke to renove the RID Bjpass manifolds at McGlire and rep 1. ace them with fast responso thermcwell mounted RIDS. 7his has been cmpleted for McGuire Unit 2.

The Safety Evaluatica Ibport scocopanying these License Anerrhnents stated "The Licensee will perform a caparison of the tanperature indications after the modification with measurements prior to the I:odifications.

The NRC will be notified of the results of this ccrparison including an explanation of my variaticns larger than expected".

This caparison las been empleted for McGuire thit 2.

7he results are shown in the attached table.

This cortparison was obtained using results frcm the Precision Peactor Coolant Flow Measurement Calculation Procedure. This procedure was performed near the beginning of cycles 3,4 and 5.

Ibr each of the fcur locps, averages of four measurments each of Ibt Icg and Cbid Icg tmperatures yielded an average delta-T. The average delta-T was then divided by an average secondary pcmer calorimetric value to normalize the results to 100%.

Although the change shcwn in the table in delta T frc:n cycle 4 to 5 was slightly greater than the chinge frca cycle 3 to 4, the magnitude of these variaticos is insignificant. There results indicate a randcm distribution in the variaticna of normalized delta T indications and show the rrodified reactor coolant taperature measurcsnent syntan is functioning as expected.

Very truly yours, I
