Dear Sir:

In References (b), (c) and (d), we reported a 10CFR50.55(e) deficiency regarding control circuit cable lengths. During the design process of control circuits for various devices, such as solenoids, relays, etc., portions of the circuit were not considered in all cases when evaluating the total circuit length for voltage drop calculations. Inadequate voltage at the terminals of these devices due to increased voltage drop may prevent the device from performing its intended safety function.

The corrective action as specified in Reference (b) has been completed.

The corrective action included a study to identify all safety-related circuits which could exhibit voltage drop problems. Solutions were then developed to correct the voltage drop problem and ensure adequate voltage at the device terminals.

United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attention: Mr. Richard W. Starostecki The solutions involved rewiring with larger . conductors, development and use of a new relay coil with a lower minimum operating voltage, and reconfiguration of some circuits. This is considered our final report on this item.
