April 2', 1987' Docket No: 50-470F APPLICANT: CombustionEngineering'(CE)

SUBJECT:

SUMMARY

OF MEETING OF CE AND NRR MANAGEMENT ON COMBUSTION ENGINEERING ADVANCED CESSAR DESIGN A meeting was held in Bethesda, Maryland on March 24, 1987. The purpose of the meeting between CE and NRR management was to discuss certification aspects of the CESSAR design modified to represent the next generation design for future

, referencability. Enclosure 1 lists the meeting attendees.

SUMMARY

The applicant's presentation was based on the viewgraphs provided as Enclosure 2.

CE expressed the desire to create a new CESSAR System 80 docket based upon the current CESSAR System 80 with CE desired changes reflecting operating experience modifications based on EPRI criteria, NRC mandated changes such as the inclusion of Generic Issues /In Service Inspections and NRC Severe.

Accident Policy. The design will include the NSSS and minimum functional requirements for B0P systems. The licensing schedule is targeted for conpletion in September 1991 consistent with the EPRI document submittals.

CE requested that a licensing basis agreement be developed and finalized by August 1987.
