Docket No.: 482

,Mr. Bart D. Withers APR 01 W President and Chief Executive Officer llolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation Post Office Box 411 Burlington, ~ Xansas 66839

Dear Mr. Withers:

Subject:

Large Break LOCA Analysis - Licens'e Condition 2.C.(12)

The. staff has completed its review of your submittal dated October 1,1986 which provided your analysis of a large break Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) in response to license condition 2.C.(12) in the Wolf Creek full power license issued June 4,.1985.

License Condition 2.C.(12) was necessitated by the unavailability of an ap-proved code for the LOCA analysis at the time of Wolf Creek's licensing..

Based upon our review we have concluded that your analysis was performed using methodologies and codes which have been previously approved by the NRC and which satisfy the criteria of Appendix X to 10 CFR 50. The results of the

~

inalysis are within the acceptance criteria of 10 CFR 50.46, therefore, your t.nalysis is acceptable and License Condition 2.C.(12) has been satisfied.

i A 'opy of our related Safety Evaluation is enclosed.

Sincerely, Wi Paul W. O'Connor, Project Manager PWR Project Directorate #4 Division of PWR Licensing-A
