ACCEPTANCE FOR REFERENCING OF ABB CE TOPICAL REPORT CENPD-289-P: "USE OF INERT REPLACEMENT RODS IN ABB CENF FUEL ASSEMBLIES"(TAC NO. M87910)
Dear Mr. Toelle:
The staff has reviewed the subject report submitted by ABB Combustion Engineering (ABB-CE) by letter of September 30,1993, and additional information submitted by letter dated April 16, 1998, to our request for additionalinformation. On the basis of our review, the staff has found the subject report to be acceptable for referencing in license applications to the extent specified and under the limitations stated in the enclosed report and U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissiv.i (NRC) safety eva!vation. The evaluation defines the basis for acceptance of the report.
The staff will not repeat its review of the matters described in ABB-CE Topical Report CENPD-289-P and found acceptable when the report appears as a reference in license applications, except to ensure that the material presented applies to the specifi: plant involved.
NRC acceptance applies only to the matters described in ABB-CE Topical Report CENPD-289-P. In accordance with procedures established in NUREG-0390, the NRC requests that ABB-CE publish accepted versions of the report including the safety eystuatico, proprietary and non-proprietary, within 3 months of receipt of this letter. The accepted versions shall incorporate this letter and the enclosed evaluation between the title page and the abstract and an -A (designating accepted) following the report identification symbol Should our acceptance criteria or regulations change so that our cone'usions as to the f acceptability of the report are no longer valid, applicants referencing this topical report will be !
