January 13, 1987 Mr. Virgil Brownlee U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 101 Marietta Street NW, Suite 2900 Atlanta,-GA 30323
Subject:
McGuire Nuclear Station Docket Nos. 50-369, -370
Dear Mr. Brownlee:
Following the supplemental RN Enforcement Conference conducted on Decem-ber 11, 1986, the NRC resident inspector (Fred Guenther) identified that the station had not been swapping power supplies to MCC IEMXH and.2EMXH as had been stated in the presentation. The'following supplemental information is provided.
It was assumed, by the person who presented the additional information on RN, that Motor Control Centers (MCC) 1EMXH and 2EMXH were being swapped when their associ-ated emergency power source was inoperable. This was based on the fact that MCC's 1EMXG and 2EMIG and the Control Room Chiller Power Source were being swapped when their associated power source was inoperable.
It was determined by the resident inspector that this swapping of MCC's 1EMXH and 2EMXH was not being done as stated in the presentation. When this was identified to station management by the resident inspector, procedures were changed (follow-ing review by Design Engineering personnel) to implement this requirements.
We apologize for this error.
Very truly yours, R
Hal B. Tucker 1
