DOCKET NOS. 50-325 & 50-324/ LICENSE NOS. DPR-71 & DPR-62 WITHDRAWAL OF REQUEST FOR LICENSE AMENDMENT ROD SEQUENCE CONTROL SYSTEM

Dear Mr. Muller:

On July 1,1985, Carolina Power & Light Company requested a revision to the Technical Specifications for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Unit Nos. I and 2. The proposed changes to TS Section 3/4.1.4.2 allow bypassing a maximum of three inoperable control rods in any rod sequence control system group. The Company has reevaluated this request and determined that an amendment is not necessary at this time. Therefore, 1

CP&L withdraws the July 1,1985 request for license amendment to TS Section 3/4.1.4.2.

Please refer any questions regarding this matter to Mr. Stephen D. Floyd at (919) 836-6091.

Yours very truly, A
